ACCM EVENTS & SPONSORS: DR. DE OCAMPO AWARDED ORDER OF THE BRITISH EMPIRE
In a formal ceremony held last May 18,
2012, Dr. Roberto F. De Ocampo,
Chairman of the Board of
Advisers of AIM Conference Center, was conferred
as Honorary
Officer of the Most
Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) by Her Majesty Queen
Elizabeth II through
His Excellency
Ambassador to the Philippines Stephen Lillie.
Dr. De Ocampo was recognized
for his outstanding efforts in promoting
Philippine-UK relations during
his years in public service and more recently as the Chairman of the
British Alumni Association. He developed the Philippine-UK Friendship
Week into one of the highest profile activities for promoting
Philippine-UK relations during which the proceeds raised from the
week’s events would be donated to several outreach and charity missions
to disadvantaged children. Among their successful ventures was the
introduction of the
LIBERA,
the chart-topping London boys choir whose concerts in Manila as
Ambassadors of Goodwill helped raised funds for their projects and
foster Philippine-UK Friendship.
Dr. De Ocampo served as the
Secretary of Finance of the Philippines in 1994-1998. He was a former
President of the Asian Institute of Management and is currently a
member of AIM Board of Trustees as well as Chairman of the Board of
Advisors of RFO Center for Public Finance and Regional Economic
Cooperation (designated as an ADB regional Knowledge Hub). He is also a
recipient of many international awards and citations including the most
internationally prestigious award to Finance Ministers - the Global
Finance Minister of the Year,
Philippine Legion of Honor, ADFIAP Man of the Year, Chevalier of the
Legion of Honor of France, Ten Outstanding Young Men Award (TOYM),
several Who’s
Who Awards and the 2006 Asian HRD Award for Outstanding Contribution to
Society. He graduated from De La Salle College and Ateneo de Manila
University and received an MBA certification from the University of
Michigan, a post-graduate diploma in London School of Economics and was
conferred with four doctorates (Honoris Causa).
